Future healthcare systems are expected to face numerous challenges due to rapid increase in human population worldwide. These systems require the integration of novel and cost-effective technologies, such as Body Area Networks (BANs), that will provide remote and real-time health monitoring of patients and localize them in emergency situations. BANs have the potential to provide ubiquitous services to elderly population anywhere anytime, and also assist people with disabilities. We focus on developing robust and reliable healthcare infrastructures that support different technologies and cloud computing. We are also working on wireless communication architectures for next-generation healthcare systems, and our plan also includes developing a low-power BAN test-bed for realistic evaluation in hospital and AAL scenarios.
