Engineering Real-Time Distributed Applications with RFieldbus

In order to demonstrate the technical feasibility of the RFieldbus field trial, it is necessary to determine the characterisation of all network traffic generated by both DP and multimedia applications from either wired or wireless nodes and segments. This characterisation must be done according to the features of the applications, and the different transmission domains that the traffic will pass through (wired, wireless). This paper presents and overview of how this characterisation can be accomplished, and, most important, how this information is used to configure the overall system, for its correct functioning.
