ABSTRACT:
In this talk, Anis Koubaa will provide an overview of his current research about developing smart systems for the Internet-of-Things by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, namely deep learning. Anis will discuss how the evolution of current network and communication technologies in addition to the cloud computing systems are promoting AI-applications for the Internet-of-Things, where the cloud acts as a remote brain.


BIO:
Anis Koubaa is a Research Professor in Computer Science, Advisor to the Rector, and Leader of the Robotics and Internet of Things Research Lab, in Prince Sultan University. He is also an Integrated Researcher in CISTER/INESC TEC and ISEP-IPP, Porto, Portugal, and R&D Consultant at Gaitech Robotics in China and He has been the Chair of the ACM Chapter in Saudi Arabia since 2014. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in UK. His main research interest deals with providing solutions towards the integration of robots and drones into the Internet of Things (IoT) and clouds using deep learning. His research interests also include Robot Operating System (ROS), Robotic Software Engineering, Wireless communication for the IoT, real-time communication, safety and security for cloud robotics, intelligent algorithms’ design for mobile robots, and multi-robot task allocation.
