From November 13-17th, the Superior School of Music and Performing Artes in Oporto sets the stage yet again for another International Saxophone Week including highly respected international artists that in this edition have surpassed expectations. The week’s theme is Hindu Namaste - Body Mind & Interpretation. Joining the school’s staff Henk van Twillert, Fernando Ramos and Gilberto Bernardes is lengandary saxophonist and pedagogue Jean-Marie Londeix (France), Arno Bornkamp (Holland) and Alfonso Padilla (Spain). During the week a series of activities will occur not only for professionals and high-levels students but for the public in general. Besides the masterclasses, workshops, lectures and individual lessons there will be a concert every evening at 21:30 in the Teatro Helena Sá e Costa (Rua da Escola Normal, ESMAE) with proposals that go from symphonic music, chamber music and solo concerts. Do not miss the Portuguese premier of Jacob ter Veldhuis’ Tallahatchie Concerto with Arno Bornkamp as a soloist and with the presence of the composer himself, the collaboration between Henk van Twillert and the Riabattuta Vocal Ensemble entitled Tranformations, the Portuguese Saxophone Orchestra, Ventos do Norte, various national soloists and ending with a mega saxophone orchestra including all of the participantes of the weeks activities.
