The main objective of the MASQOTS project has been to achieve reliable and real-time communications in low-power low-cost wireless networks supporting physical mobility (e.g. mobile robots or body sensor networks interacting with fixed wireless sensor networks).
We have been mainly addressing hand-off and dynamic routing schemes over SOTA communication technologies (mainly IEEE 802.15.4 (ZigBee) and RPL (6loWPAN)). We have also been focusing on radio link quality/interference estimation, as fundamental building blocks for supporting real-time and reliable mobile communications.
Our findings have been building on analytical, simulation and experimental models, based on commercial-off-the-shelf hardware and software. In Sources you can find the source code of our solution for supporting reliable and fast hand-offs in RPL. Please refer to our Publications page for more details.
