Collaboration between CISTER researcher and Canada experts in the spotlight in international workshop

22, May, 2013
The International Real-Time Ada Workshop (IRTAW) is an invitation-based forum for exploring issues with real-time system support in the Ada programming language and for exploring possible approaches and solutions. The IRTAW meetings are the principal forum that contributes to the evolution of the Ada standard in issues concerning real-time, concurrency and high-integrity, being based on discussions and working sessions, instead of paper presentations. CISTER hosted the 12th edition of the workshop during 2003.

The 16th edition of the workshop (IRTAW 2013) took place in York, UK, April 16-19, with one of the main topics the current proposal to extend the Ada language with parallel programming constructs. The central discussion was based on a joint proposal between CISTER researcher Miguel Pinho and industrial experts from Canada.

Due to the importance which was given to the topic, a full day of workshop discussion was around this topic. This two-part "Parallel and Muticore Models" session was also chaired by Miguel Pinho.
