CISTER organizes and hosts 14th edition of the RTCM workshop

13, Jul, 2011

On July 1, the most representative Portuguese research teams in the areas of mobile and wireless communications got together at ISEP for the 14th edition of the RTCM workshop. CISTER researcher Mário Alves organized this edition, with Prof. Manuel Ricardo (INESC Porto) and Jorge Sá Silva (University of Coimbra) in the scientific committee. Inês Almeida, Sandra Almeida, Claro Noda, Hossein Fotouhi and Vikram Gupta supported the local organization.

RTCM is a national network of excellence composed of both academic and industrial members that aims at fostering R&D around the areas of mobile and wireless communications. The RTCM workshops are held twice per year and represent great opportunities for the research community to present and share ideas and their latest R&D achievements. Participation in these workshops is open to motivate not only graduate but also undergraduate students to attend.

The workshop was a success both in terms of attendance (46 effective participants) and technical quality. This was evidenced by the testimony of many participants and by workshop co-chairs Manuel Ricardo and Jorge Sá Silva. Next edition (tentative date in February 2012) will be in Guimarães, which will be European Capital of Culture in 2012.
