Two new PhD students enroll with CISTER

The CISTER research unit is further implementing its strategic development plan with the addition of two more PhD students. They have been selected from a group of many candidates who spontaneously applied last year. 

João Loureiro obtained a degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 2009. Since then he has worked on embedded computing systems both within academy and industry. He enrolled the FEUP’s PDEEC program, and his research interests are on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). João is involved in the SENODs and SmartSkin projects.

André Pedro was born in Covilhã, Portugal, in 1987. In 2009 he received his degree in Computer science engineering at Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilhã. In 2011 he has concluded the Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering at Universidade do Minho, Braga with thesis "Learning and testing Stochastic discrete event systems". Now, he began his Phd studies for which hehas enrolled in the MAPi Doctoral Programme in Computer Science, a joint program of the Universities of Minho, Aveiro and Porto, in which the curricular part is taught entirely in one of three institutions, rotating every year.
