Resource and QoS Management

Synopsis

The notion of Quality of Service (QoS) contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLA) is essential in order to handle the reliable and safe management of embedded distributed systems resources. Our focus is in the context of guaranteeing that the applications are able to get their desired resources as specified in SLA. Our results include architectures. mechanisms and analyses for scenarios that range from complex distributed systems (including middlewares for the Internet of Things) to resource constrained sensor nodes.

Leadership & Achievements

Luis Lino Ferreira will co-organize a special session on Flexible and Interoperable Automation Systems at the 19th IEEE Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA), to be held over 16-19/09/2014 in Barcelona, Spain.

CISTER was a core partner in the European Network of Excellence on Cooperating Objects (CONET). Under CONET and in the WSN area in particular, we were leading the COTS4QoS (QoS provision using COTS) cluster and participating in the RMA (Resource Management and Adaptation) and UICO (Ubiquitous Integration of Cooperating Objects) research clusters.
